This Week’s Shows!
There have honestly been too many memories to keep up with in the first weeks of summer. As Sunday rolls around each week and we take a breath after the excitement of the buildup to the shows, and then the enjoyment of the shows, we reminisce about all the memories from each weekend. I feel a bit at a loss as to how to start to capture it all, but we have been taking videos of the shows and some pictures too and I’m really looking forward to going back through them over the winter to pull out some great songs to share with everyone. And so, I’d like to remind you of our upcoming shows so that you too can feel positively overwhelmed with so many great vibes and memories ❤️ 🤩
THIS WEEKEND COMING
Todd & Robyn - Thursday, July 30th - 70% Sold
We met Todd near the beginning of last summer when he attended one of the shows in our first season. Super kind and humble, it was so nice to chat with him at the bar. He mentioned he played with his partner Robyn and that they’d love to come and play at Duke's. Later in the year, one VERY snowy November evening, I went to check them out at the first of a series of events that Todd & Robyn host called “An Evening With”. These take place at Chapel Gallery in Bracebridge and you should watch for any upcoming events on Todd & Robyn’s website. In this series they invite other musicians to join them for a show and the audience gets to hear songs and stories from each of the musicians as well as some collaborative pieces. It was perfect. Small room, great lighting, some brews to choose from, warm and comfy inside and super snowy outside, great acoustics, beautiful songs and harmonies and great energy. Todd & Robyn will be joining us at Duke’s this Thursday July 30th to share their music with us. We expect this show to sell out in the next couple of days, so choose your seats quickly and come for a night overlooking the water and listening to some sweet tambourine, harmonic, guitar and vocals with Todd & Robyn.
Danny Michel - Two Shows
July 31st - 95% Sold
August 1st - 50% Sold
I’m not quite sure when we started listening to Danny - but it’s been a while. His albums and music cover many genre’s. Every time I listen to an album I hear more details, instruments, more messages in his songs. His adventurous musical spirit has led him on unique journeys, from recording and touring with The Garifuna Collective (from Belize) to recording an album aboard a Soviet-era icebreaker in the Arctic while on an expedition with astronaut Chris Hadfield. Albums like Matadora and Khlebnikov explore themes of human connection, the environment, and the cosmos.
Beyond music, Danny is passionate about social causes. He founded the DM Ocean Academy Fund to support a non-profit high school in Belize. His charm, creative performances, and wide-ranging interests have made him a beloved figure not only in music but also in charitable and environmental circles. This has led to unique performances, including playing at Jane Goodall’s 85th birthday, David Suzuki’s 75th + 90th, and touring with Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Cafe.
Though his Friday show is nearly sold out, there are still about half the tickets left for his Saturday show, so get them online at the link below as we expect them to sell out before the show this weekend.
